ADVANCED EHF UNIVERSAL SYSTEM TEST TERMINAL - Model of an Advanced Extremely High Frequencies (EHF) satellite sits in front of the first Advanced EHF Universal System Test Terminal, called AUST-T. The terminal will be used to verify communications compatibility between the Advanced EHF satellite payloads and ground terminals to be developed for the system. The AUST-T will also verify backward compatibility of Advanced EHF terminal with the Department of Defense's existing Milstar satellite system, which also operates at EHF.

FIRE SCOUT RADAR IMAGING DEMONSTRATION - Northrop Grumman Corporations Integrated Systems sector has completed a series of tests to demonstrate that a synthetic aperture radar/moving target indicator (SAR/MTI) system can be integrated and operated successfully on its RQ-8A Fire Scout vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned air vehicle. The SAR/MTI system is visible under the Fire Scout nose.

FIRE SCOUT GETS quotSEA LEGSquot - Northrop Grumman Corporation and the U.S. Navy have completed the initial phase of at-sea testing that will lead to the first shipboard landing of the Navys RQ-8A Fire Scout vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned air vehicle (UAV) system later this year. Fire Scout is shown aboard USS Denver (LPD 9) with engine running and rotors engaged.

GLOBAL HAWK FIRST PRODUCTION AIR VEHICLE --Northrop Grumman Corporation's Integrated Systems sector completed the first production air vehicle of the U.S. Air Force's combat-proven RQ-4A Global Hawk unmanned aerial reconnaissance system in Palmdale on Aug. 1.

TWILIGHT SHIP GLEAMING -- USS Mustin (DDG 89), the 18th Aegis guided missile destroyer built by Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, was commissioned Saturday night. The ship, built at the sector's Ingalls operations in Pascagoula, Miss., is now officially a member of Destroyer Squadron One in the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

MUSTIN COMMISSIONING -- Mustin (DDG 89), the 18th Aegis guided missile destroyer built by Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, will be commissioned on Saturday, July 26, in Coronado, Calif.

SAN ANTONIO CHRISTENING -- Ships sponsor United States Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas (l) christens the U. S. Navys newest amphibious transport dock ship, San Antonio, on July 19, 2003, at Northrop Grumman Ship Systems in New Orleans, La. Avondale operations Vice President George Yount (r) and more than a thousand guests celebrated the new ships milestone.

SHIPBUILDING SAFETY AGREEMENT SIGNED - Shown are (l-r) Steve Strom, vice president of Quality and Process Improvement for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems John L. Henshaw, assistant secretary of labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Paul Robinson, vice president, Ship Systems Ingalls Operations and representative of the American Shipbuilding Association, as they sign an alliance agreement at Ship Systems' Pascagoula headquarters. The agreement will promote a culture of injury and illness prevention in the nation's shipbuilding industries.

NEWEST NAVY SHIP LAUNCHED - San Antonio (LPD 17), the first of a new class of amphibious transport dock ships built for the U.S. Navy by Northrop Grumman Corporations Ship Systems sector, will be christened at the companys Avondale Operations near New Orleans, La., on July 19, 2003. The 684-foot, 25,000-ton ship will join the fleet in 2005.
