SAR/MTI

SAR/MTI PAYLOAD INTEGRATED ON FIRE SCOUT FOR WATCHKEEPER - Northrop Grumman Corporations Integrated Systems sector has completed the integration and end-to-end air vehicle/payload testing of an all-weather, high-resolution, tactical synthetic aperture radar/moving target indicator (SAR/MTI) on the companys production-configured Fire Scout tactical unmanned air vehicle (UAV), at the companys Fire Scout System Center, San Diego, Calif. The effort supports a requirement by the U.K. Ministry of Defences WATCHKEEPER program to demonstrate a tactical SAR payload on a rotary-wing UAV.

San Antonio (LPD17)

SAN ANTONIO GETS SECOND MAST -- The LPD 17 San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship, which is being built by Northrop Grumman Corporations Ship Systems sector, recently received its second all-enclosed composite mast. The 74-foot tall mast was lifted aboard the San Antonio at the companys Avondale Operations in New Orleans. The masts are the largest composite structures ever installed on U.S Navy steel ships.

Benavidez Sea Trials

BENAVIDEZ SEA TRIAL -- The seventh and final Bob Hope-class Strategic Sealift ship, Benavidez, departs Northrop Grumman Ship Systems' Avondale Operations in New Orleans May 28, 2003, for predelivery sea trials in the Gulf of Mexico. The 950-foot-long cargo ship is scheduled for delivery to the U.S. Navy at the end of June.

Reagan Completes Acceptance Trials

REAGAN COMPLETES ACCEPTANCE TRIALS -- Upon completion of acceptance sea trials, the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) returned to Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, Va., where it will be commissioned July 12, 2003.

SECOND FIRE SCOUT TACTICAL UAV DELIVERED -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's Integrated Systems sector delivered the second production unit of the U.S. Navy's RQ-8A Fire Scout vertical takeoff and landing tactical UAV to the Navy on April 14.
