On March 24, Northrop Grumman began assembling the center fuselage for the U.S. Air Forces first production F-35A Lightning II aircraft. The process, which began approximately one week ahead of schedule, consisted of loading the jets all-composite air inlet ducts into a tooling fixture at the companys Palmdale Manufacturing Center.
