PITTSBURGH, April 2, 2012 -- Two Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employees, Sharon Meadows and Roy Foreman, received top awards at the annual National Society of Black Engineers Conference (NSBE), held March 28-April 1 in Pittsburgh. NSBE acknowledges technical excellence, leadership, and contributions to the engineering field. The theme for the NSBE conference this year was "The NSBE Blueprint: Leadership, Teamwork, and Inspiration."

These employees were recognized for their dedication to outstanding technical contribution, educational leadership and community service.

Sharon Meadows was awarded the Outstanding Woman in Technology award. Meadows is the lead systems engineer for the engineering Milsatcom program at the company's Aerospace Systems sector in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Meadows manages a team that supports the delivery of payload units, overseeing the budget and supervising design modifications, verification planning and testing, and payload integration and testing.

Meadows earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. She has won multiple employer-sponsored and national accolades for her achievements as a technical leader. She is a recipient of a Northrop Grumman Woman of Achievement Award, Northrop Grumman Black Engineer of the Year Award, Women of Color Technology All Star Award and a two-time recipient of the Modern Day Technology Award for the National Black Engineer of the Year Award Conference.

Roy Foreman has received the Distinguished Engineer of the Year award. Foreman is an electrical engineering manager for the integrated platform solutions business at the company's Information Systems sector in Madison, Ala. He leads a team of electrical engineers and overseeing the planning, design and construction of projects in support of the Department of Defense. Foreman also oversees supply chain processes, instituting new initiatives that have reduced procurement costs and reduced turnaround times, saving the company time and money.

Foreman earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. In the community, Foreman mentors students at the local college in the area of electrical engineering concepts and principles, and is building a company co-op program for college students in electrical engineering. He has also authored several technical white papers and specifications on electrical engineering designs and concepts.
