BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 19, 2009 -- More than 130 Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employees, friends and family members gathered at the company's Amherst Systems business unit to pack 10,189 USO Care Packages for U.S. troops serving overseas.

The care packages will be shipped to troops serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and other overseas locations. The Nov. 14 event marked Northrop Grumman's fourth care package stuffing party sponsorship this year.

"We at Northrop Grumman's Amherst Systems business unit are very proud to partner with the USO to support the men and women of our Armed Forces who are serving our country," said John Stanfill, site manager of Northrop Grumman Amherst Systems. "Our participation in the Operation USO Care Package program is just one small way to bring a touch of home and show our heart-felt thanks to our service members on duty overseas."

"The Operation USO Care Package program thanks Northrop Grumman employees for their continued dedication to our nation's service members," said Ron Wise, director of the Operation USO Care Package Program. "With each Northrop Grumman stuffing party, we are able to bring even more comforts of home to troops stationed around the globe."

Since its inception in 2003, the Operation USO Care Package program has distributed more than 1.7 million care packages to service members. Prior to 2001, Americans could send unsolicited letters and care packages to deployed troops. However, due to heightened security concerns, the U.S. Department of Defense no longer allows this type of donation. That's where the Operation USO Care Package program comes in, as it provides a way for the public to sponsor care packages for deployed troops.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a leading global security company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in aerospace, electronics, information systems, shipbuilding and technical services to government and commercial customers worldwide.
