PASCAGOULA, Miss., March 23, 2010 -- Irwin F. Edenzon, vice president and general manager, Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding â Gulf Coast, has been named one of the top 10 outstanding community leaders for 2009 by the Sun-Herald (Miss.) and South Mississippi Business Journal.
The publications presented Edenzon an award commemorating his community leadership at a breakfast at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss., on March 19.
"Irwin is truly engaged in our community's quality of life," said Pascagoula Mayor Robbie Maxwell. "His character and commitment to philanthropy provide a strong reflection of the thousands of shipbuilders who make the Gulf Coast a better place to live."
Edenzon, a native of New Brunswick, N.J., began leading Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding â Gulf Coast in March 2008. Since that time he has become a member of the Gulf Coast Business Council, an advisory board member for University of Mississippi's new Center for Manufacturing Excellence and a member of the board of directors for Special Olympics of Mississippi. He is past chairman of the USO of Hampton Roads, Va., was on the board of directors and is now an executive advisor to the USO helping to establish a greater USO presence on the Gulf Coast. Edenzon also serves on the board of directors for a small medical devices company in Hampton, Va.

"I'm merely one person associated with a great group of shipbuilders who collectively volunteer countless hours and reach deep into their own pockets to make their communities better.
