LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Jan Rideout, vice president and chief information officer of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems sector has been recognized by International Data Group's Computerworld magazine as one of the business world's Premier 100 IT Leaders. The award honors executives who show exemplary technology leadership in resolving pressing business problems.
Honorees were named and profiled in the January 3, 2005 issue of Computerworld, and will be recognized at Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, March 6-8, 2005, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Rideout was selected from nearly 600 nominees, who were measured against Computerworld's IT Leadership Index, a set of characteristics that describes executives who guide the effective use of IT in their organizations, and evaluated by the editors and by an external panel of judges.
In her role, Rideout is accountable for IT planning, budgeting and execution within Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems sector, headquartered in Pascagoula, Miss. The sector employs more than 17,000 shipbuilding professionals and is one of the nation's leading full-service systems companies for the design, engineering, construction and life-cycle support of major surface ships for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and international navies, and for commercial vessels of all types.
Rideout's 21-year career with Northrop Grumman is highlighted by a multi-year IT systems consolidation program; conversion of three separate business areas to a common procurement system; implementation of a common human resources system; and leadership over the company's year 2000 preparations. She has also met employees' needs by securing the necessary IT equipment to help them better serve customers.
