EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 25, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named John Griffing to be its corporate lead executive for U.S. Navy - U.S. Marine Corps programs in the Hampton Roads, Va. region. The appointment is part of a larger company effort to improve customer service by establishing a principal point of contact for related customer activities in each region of the country.
Griffing currently serves as the regional business development manager for the company's Integrated Systems sector in the Hampton Roads area. In this role, he helps the company identify and pursue Navy customer requirements in the region.
In his new, expanded role, Griffing will also serve as Northrop Grumman's key point of contact with U.S. Fleet Forces Command leadership, promote a shared understanding of the Fleet Forces Command's current and future needs, coordinate a team approach among local Northrop Grumman business units, focus and help leverage corporate resources to address those needs and maintain a positive image of Northrop Grumman in the local community.
"The role of the corporate lead executive is to integrate the company's broad portfolio of products and capabilities with the missions and needs, typically, of more than one customer," said Bob Helm, vice president, Northrop Grumman Corporation. "John's 40 years with the company, many of them spent deployed with customers to military bases or on aircraft carriers, give him a rare understanding of the realities our customers face and what Northrop Grumman can do to help them carry out their missions."
Griffing is currently vice president of membership for the Hampton Roads Council of the Navy League. He also serves on the boards of directors of the United Service Organization of Hampton Roads, the Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation and the Anchor Scholarship Foundation.
