HERNDON, Va., June 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed Jim White president of its Computing Systems business unit, effective today.

He reports to Herb Anderson, corporate vice president and president of the company's Information Technology sector. White, 49, has more than 20 years of senior management experience in the federal IT community.

"Jim is a true leader with demonstrated skills and expertise in driving profitable revenue growth in the federal sector. He will be an important addition to our senior management team," said Anderson. "His experience in the federal marketplace will enable our Computing Systems business to leverage its proven product resale capabilities while rapidly expanding its value added services portfolio."

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman IT, White held senior management positions, leading the federal units at Sybase, i2, Platinum Technologies and Digital Equipment Corporation.

"In all these positions, Jim has either built the business from scratch or has transformed the business from an offering dominated by commodity products, to a solutions portfolio which builds on a solid technology offering augmented by strategic partner alliances and trusted customer relationships," Anderson added.

At Digital, White drove the federal unit to the number seven position in the Top 100 Federal Prime Contractor ranking by Washington Technology while building a $950 million federal enterprise.

"With a proven track record of satisfying federal client IT needs and a blue chip set of technology partners, Computing Systems is a 'diamond-in-the-rough,'" said White. "We intend to enhance our value proposition to clients through a unique set of services which will accelerate and maximize their IT return on investment."

White, after earning his bachelor's degree in economics from St. Anselm College, Manchester, N.H., began his career in the defense electronics industry at Sanders Associates, currently BAE Systems, NA. He is active with the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International.
