FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 17, 2012 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named James W. Stephenson, vice president, associate general counsel and sector counsel for its Electronic Systems sector, effective Dec. 1. Stephenson will report to Sheila C. Cheston, corporate vice president and general counsel. He will succeed Dennis Cameron, who is retiring from the company.

In his new role, Stephenson will serve as primary legal counsel to the Electronic Systems sector president and senior staff. He will be responsible for managing the delivery of legal advice and Law department support to all elements of the sector, including its multiple sites, programs and subsidiaries. He will oversee a wide range of legal matters including contracts, business development, litigation, investigations, environmental, trademarks and intellectual property, employment, general corporate matters, audit and compliance.

Stephenson joined Northrop Grumman in 1984. He currently serves as an assistant general counsel for the company's Information Systems sector. Previously, he held numerous legal positions within Northrop Grumman. He has also worked at General Electric Company and in private practice.

Stephenson earned a bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Western Illinois University and a juris doctorate degree from Drake University.
