SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 18, 2010 -- Employee volunteers from Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Navigation Systems Division celebrated Veteran's Day by honoring those living at the local veteran's nursing home as well as retired military personnel employed at the company's facility here.
A group of nearly 40 Northrop Grumman employees visited the Salt Lake City Veteran's Nursing Home on Nov. 11 to show their appreciation for the service the 80 residents of the home provided to their country. The employees and veterans exchanged stories and talked about the importance of supporting the United States Armed Forces. The event was organized by VERITAS (Veterans, Employees, Reservists Inspired to Act and Support), a Northrop Grumman employee resource group committed to recognizing and supporting active duty personnel, reservists and veterans through community outreach and networking programs.
"We're so pleased to have the opportunity to visit with these local veterans," said Rick Allen, a test technician who helped organize the event. "It's a great opportunity to personally thank them for their military service, and reminds us why the work we do at Northrop Grumman that helps keep soldiers safe is so important."
The company also honored its own employees who have served in the armed forces by presenting them with Grateful Veterans commemorative coins during lunchtime festivities held at the Salt Lake City plant.
"We believe it is important, as a company that provides products and services to the military, to recognize the significant contributions of veterans," said Liz Iversen, sector vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Navigation Systems Division. "Northrop Grumman is proud of our many employee veterans and all those in the communities where we live and work."
