WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Dec. 17, 2008 -- Employee volunteers from Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Navigation Systems Division will deliver food and presents to 43 disadvantaged families during this year's holiday season.
Thirty-three of the families were nominated by Northrop Grumman employees. Ten families were nominated by El Centro de Amistad, Inc., a non-profit social services agency in Canoga Park, Calif., which supports the needs of low-income residents of the San Fernando Valley.
Adopt-A-Family's mission is to help needy families in the San Fernando Valley. Almost 650 disadvantaged families have received gifts from volunteers in Santa suits over the 18 years that the company's Adopt-A-Family program has been in operation.
"Adopt-A-Family demonstrates this company's commitment to the community," said Jim Myers, sector vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Navigation Systems Division. "Northrop Grumman works to be a good neighborhood partner that helps meet the needs of the communities where we work and live."
Northrop Grumman's Adopt-A-Family effort holds events at the company's Woodland Hills facility throughout the year to raise funds and encourage employees to volunteer their time and talents in support of the charity appeal. Employees also participate in toy and food drives, and donations are delivered during Adopt-A-Family holiday gift distribution.
"Adopt-A-Family brings our people together to help meet the needs of our neighbors," said Kathy Fodor, chairman of the division's Adopt-A-Family program and a volunteer in this outreach for 18 years. "Adopt-A-Family allows our employees to reach out to needy families and help over 100 children just this year alone."
