HERNDON, Va., April 27, 2010 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has donated a $25,000 education grant to Sowela Technical Community College Foundation, Lake Charles, La.

"We have had a longstanding relationship with Sowela that will only grow as we continue to expand operations here in Southwest Louisiana," said Ron Blickley, Northrop Grumman Technical Services site director for the Lake Charles Maintenance and Modification Center. "It's a win-win-win situation for Northrop Grumman, Sowela and the entire state of Louisiana."

The donation will benefit the college's Aviation Maintenance Technology department and will be used to modernize and replace equipment, upgrade facilities and for recruitment efforts.

"The Aviation Maintenance Technology Program at Sowela plays a critical role in providing well-trained technicians for Southwest Louisiana's aviation industry," said Dr. Rick Bateman, vice chancellor for academic affairs and student success. "This contribution from Northrop Grumman is a reflection of our long history as partners working toward improved opportunities for the citizens of Southwest Louisiana. In lean financial times, these partnerships with industry are essential to help Sowela achieve its core mission to provide high quality training."
