WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed William J. Schaefer vice president of business development for its Integrated Systems sector.

In this key role, Schaefer will lead the sector in identifying, assessing and pursuing new business opportunities, and shape the competitive strategies that will help it continue to grow. He will also lead Integrated Systems' marketing efforts and help ensure that its customers obtain best-value solutions that draw upon the collective strengths of Northrop Grumman and its industry partners.

"The business development organization is a critical partner in ensuring that Integrated Systems continues to exceed its customers' expectations, and that we position ourselves to meet their next generation requirements for unmanned air systems, integrated strike systems, and air mobility systems," said Scott J. Seymour, president of Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector. "Bill will also help ensure that our advanced systems concepts and technology investments remain aligned with our customers' future needs."

Schaefer joined Northrop Grumman in 2006 from WJ Schaefer & Associates LLC, a business and consulting services firm that provides executive level services in all aspects of strategic planning, new business development, customer relations, and program management support.

Schaefer graduated from the University of Maryland where he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in electrical engineering. During his career, he has received several prestigious awards, including multiple Senior Executive Service Presidential Rank Awards, the Department of the Navy's Distinguished Public Service Award and Distinguished Civil Service Award, and the Naval Research Laboratory Innovation Award.
