HERNDON, Va., Dec. 8, 2008 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Jonathan "Jock" Scharfen vice president of international operations for the company's Technical Services sector.
In this position, Scharfen has executive responsibility for all international activities involved with identification, qualification and capture of key market opportunities.

"For more than two decades, he has led and managed worldwide operations and has continually demonstrated keen business acumen in the operational, legal, regulatory and business arenas. This experience and expertise make him an invaluable leader on our team."
Scharfen most recently served in a senior leadership position within Department of Homeland Security, where he was directly responsible for managing an extensive and sophisticated government operation at state, national and international levels. He also served on the National Security Council staff for three presidents. He began his career as a Marine Corps infantry officer.
Scharfen earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., and his Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. He is a member of the California State Bar.
