BOULDER, Colo., July 6, 2011 -- The City of Boulder issued a proclamation recognizing Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) for its continuing contributions to national security and to the Colorado economy as a provider of leading-edge defense technology.

The proclamation was signed by Boulder Mayor Susan M. Osborne and presented to Ron Alford, Northrop Grumman's director, Sensor Exploitation Systems and Colorado Campuses, on June 13.

"Northrop Grumman is a trusted supplier of military space systems, joint tactical ground systems, expertise in missile defense and mission support to military operations for many years through its statewide workforce of over 2,400 employees," the proclamation states.

The company's Boulder campus has been active in the community for over 15 years and specializes in leading-edge, ground processing capabilities that receive data from space-based sensors, making it usable by military units on the ground. This work includes key programs such as the Space-Based Infrared System, Space Tracking and Surveillance System, Defense Support Program and Joint Tactical Ground Station. Northrop Grumman employees work closely with regional military bases such as Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.

Northrop Grumman is also a leader in developing and advancing overhead persistent infrared technology and multi-intelligence data exploitation, which serve a variety of military needs.
