REDONDO BEACH, Calif., May 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Flex Your Power, California's statewide energy efficiency partnership, has recognized Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) for the company's efforts to reduce power usage at its major operations in the Los Angeles area.

The partnership of utilities, residents, businesses, institutions, government agencies and nonprofit organizations presented one of its fourth annual Flex Your Power Awards May 16 to the company for its work in energy conservation. Northrop Grumman locations recognized for their efforts were the Space Technology sector in Redondo Beach, and the Integrated Systems sector in El Segundo and Palmdale where it produces a wide array of military and civil government satellites, and combat aircraft.

All together, the Northrop Grumman sites reduced peak demand by 11 percent in summer months, trimmed 6,600 operating lighting hours, reduced more than 16,000 kilowatts, and installed energy efficient lighting for 4.5 million square feet of office and manufacturing space.

Thirty-five organizations in various categories throughout the state received one of the awards. The Flex Your Power Awards originated in 2001 to acknowledge outstanding leadership in energy efficiency that helped California through an energy crisis.
