Orbital ATK Provides Rapid Response to Key International Customer

DULLES, Va.Feb. 23, 2015-- Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, completed the installation and integration of its AAR-47 Missile and Laser Warning System with Hostile Fire Indication (HFI), Symetrics ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispensing System (CMDS), and Southeast Aerospace s aircraft modification kits onto AH-1S helicopters for the Republic of Korea Army. The work was completed through the Orbital ATK Defense Systems Group.

The AAR-47 integrates missile, laser and hostile fire threat warning into a single system. With Orbital ATK s unique HFI capability added to the AAR-47, military aircrews flying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft can detect a wider range of threats to their aircraft, including smaller-caliber weapon fire and rocket propelled grenades, and quickly respond with countermeasures. Orbital ATK is the only company to deliver this key capability as part of a proven missile warning system.

In April 2014 the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) awarded the company a contract for the installation and integration of the aircraft survivability equipment suite on several of their AH-1S platforms.

The knowledge and experience of our team allowed us to rapidly install and integrate the survivability equipment onto the Korean AH-1S helicopters, said Bill Kasting, vice president and general manager of the Defense Electronic Systems division of Orbital ATK s Defense Systems Group. This quick turnaround is a testament to the outstanding effort and technical competence of our team and further demonstrates our commitment to provide our customers with an affordable solution enhancing the overall effectiveness of their missions.

The AAR-47 missile warning system is installed on more than 3,200 fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and is flown by the U.S. and its allies in more than 16 countries. The systems are installed on aircraft such as the C-5, C-17, C-130, P-3, CH-53/MH-53, CH-46, HH/SH-60, UH-60P, AH-1W/Z, UH-1N/Y and MV-22. The addition of the AN/ALE-47 CMDS provides combat aircrews with enhanced survivability against surface-to-air and air-to-air missile threats in all environments, by dispensing chaff or flares.

Orbital ATK s Defense Systems Group is an industry leader in providing innovative and affordable ammunition, precision and strike weapons, electronic warfare systems, and missile components across air-, sea-, and land-based systems.
