AVONDALE, La., March 3, 2010 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has received recognition from the U.S. government for excellence in workplace health and safety at several different locations.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) recognized "merit" status for the Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding sector's Avondale, La., facility. "For OSHA to recognize our facilities at any level is a significant achievement and I'm proud of our entire workforce," Jim Thornton, director of environmental, health and safety for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. "We have celebrated accident-free days at these facilities and we'll continue to improve toward getting safety recognitions at all sites."
