CANBERRA, Australia â June 11, 2013 â Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) is a leading industry participant in the Australian Defence Magazine's Third Annual Cyber Security Summit being held June 12-13 in Canberra. On the second day of the conference, Jim Myers, vice president and general manager for cyber solutions, Northrop Grumman, will deliver an industry keynote address.
In his presentation, Myers will address Northrop Grumman's leadership within the cyber environment, highlighting that cyber security continues to grow as a serious and pressing national security challenge in line with the findings of the recently published Australian Defence White Paper.
"Australian national defence, and the defence industry, face a wide range of threats from agile and capable adversaries. These adversaries take advantage of the expanding complexity of the information and communications technology infrastructure," said Myers. "Protecting deployed networks and strategic information systems against sophisticated cyber threats requires new solutions, which include security as a core requirement of the design and which go beyond the capabilities of most commercially available products."
Myers also will discuss the need to share experiences as part of a whole-of-nation effort, requiring the cooperation and rapid sharing of technologies and experiences between trusted partners who have real experience in full-spectrum defence capabilities.
This year's conference theme is "Addressing Current and Emerging Cyber Threats to Australia's Security."
