RESTON, Va., Aug. 24, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Essex Information Assurance (IA) team recently achieved a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI(r)) Level 3 rating.

The CMMI(r) standard was developed by a coalition of industry, government and the Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense, to objectively assess the full range of an organization's software and systems engineering, program management and organizational management capabilities.

CMMI(r) maturity is rated on a scale from one through five, with five being the highest. Higher maturity levels signify lower risks to successful program execution. A maturity level 3 rating assures customers of consistent project performance and higher quality products.
