SLIDELL, La., Jan. 7, 2009 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) 3001 International, Inc. broke ground today in Slidell, La., as part of the Eastern Louisiana Consolidation Project, continuing the company's strong presence in the state.
The ceremony was held at 2 p.m. CST at 2050 Gause Blvd. E., in Slidell.
Highlighting the occasion were remarks from John Olesak, vice president of geospatial intelligence for Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector, and Bart Bailey, Northrop Grumman division director for 3001 International.
"The new Slidell facility recognizes Northrop Grumman's commitment to growing the local economy," said Olesak. "Northrop Grumman has a long and established history in Louisiana as largest private industrial employer in the state and we look forward to continuing our strong presence here with this new facility."
Northrop Grumman acquired 3001 International in October 2008. 3001 International is a provider of geospatial data production and analysis, including airborne imaging, surveying, mapping and geographic information systems for domestic and international government intelligence, defense and civilian customers.
"3001 International began as a Louisiana company, and we are proud to continue that legacy with this new building," said Bailey. "The new consolidated workspace gives us further resources to grow our business within the Gulf Coast region."
The new Slidell office will combine two existing 3001 International offices, the current Slidell office and Stennis Space Center in Miss. The new 20,000 square-foot facility will bring 85 high-tech jobs, including 50 new positions to St. Tammany Parish, enabling Northrop Grumman to continue its role as a strong local employer.
Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
