MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a follow-on contract to support the integration of the Business Partner Network Support Environment, which provides comprehensive logistics data and information technology (IT) applications to the U.S. Department of Defense, federal agencies and international allies.

The five-year contract is valued at more than $40 million to Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector. It was awarded by the General Services Administration under the Millennia Governmentwide Acquisition Contract in support of the Defense Department, General Services Administration and Defense Logistics Agency.

Northrop Grumman will manage development, operations and maintenance support, and enhancements to the Web-enabled logistics application that hosts multiple databases from the Defense Department and federal government. The secure business environment will facilitate cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.

The suite of databases includes the Central Contractor Registration, which collects, validates, stores and disseminates data in support of U.S. federal agency acquisition missions; the Item Unique Identification Registry, a central repository that allows the Defense Department to track identical items individually throughout their lifecycles; the Business Identification Number Cross Referencing System, a search engine for manufacturers and suppliers supporting the federal supply chain; and the Commercial and Government Entity Administration and Maintenance System, an interface system between the Central Contract Registration system and the Commercial and Government Entity system that provides data synchronization between the two registries.

"Northrop Grumman will provide advanced IT solutions to help meet the goals of this important e-government initiative to deploy a single point of registration and validation of supplier data that is accessed by all departments and agencies," said Catherine Kuenzel, vice president of Enterprise Infrastructure Services and Solutions for Northrop Grumman IT.

Northrop Grumman's teammates on this contract include ePlus, Herndon, Va.; Science Applications International Corporation, San Diego; and Recovery Point Systems, Gaithersburg, Md.

Work on the contract will be conducted in Battle Creek, Mich.
