LAS VEGAS, Sept. 20, 2010 -- Officials from Northrop Grumman Corporation-led (NYSE:NOC) joint venture National Security Technologies (NSTec) LLC participated in an Aug. 23 ceremony announcing the renaming of the Nevada Test Site to the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).

Dr. Stephen Younger, NSTec president, joined National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) administrator Thomas D'Agostino, NNSA Nevada Site Office manager Stephen Mellington, senior officials from the Departments of State, Defense and Homeland Security, and members of the Nevada Congressional delegation in speaking at the renaming ceremony.

"NNSS reflects the diversity of the mission taking place at the facility," said Younger. "This unique site supports the NNSA and a number of other agencies in their national security missions to prepare for the evolving threats of the 21 st century."

The mission of NNSS will continue to expand from the support of NNSA in maintaining the safety, security and effectiveness of the nation's nuclear deterrent, to focus increasingly on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, treaty monitoring and other missions.

"The name change is consistent with the expanding mission at NNSS in support of America's national security," said Tom Vice, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Technical Services. "Northrop Grumman and our partner companies are committed to supporting non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, treaty verification, counter-terrorism and other associated missions at NNSS."
