HERNDON, Va., Dec. 9, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has completed the installation of a 9-1-1 computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system designed to provide swift and coordinated access to police, fire and emergency medical services for the military community of Oahu, Hawaii.

The Northrop Grumman 9-1-1 CAD system manages emergency events for the U.S. Navy Regional Operations Command and Control Center - Pearl Harbor, which responds to calls from U.S. Navy, Marines and Army personnel stationed in Oahu. Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector developed the system, which is integrated with the Navy Region's radio, telephony and alarm systems, supporting emergency services for the island's military police and fire agencies.

"Northrop Grumman has more than 35 years of experience designing and integrating progressive technologies for emergency planning and assistance," said Hugh Taylor, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Commercial, State and Local Solutions business unit. "The Navy's new 9-1-1 CAD system will enable control center personnel to respond more rapidly to emergencies."

The installation of the 9-1-1 CAD emergency response system at Pearl Harbor helps the Department of Defense consolidate current and individual dispatch operations into regional command and control centers. This consolidation will lead to more coordinated responses to emergency calls-for-service, and provide a single, comprehensive view of emergency situations, allowing for real-time crisis management and threat assessment capabilities.
