NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 27, 2013 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will feature innovative technologies and systems that advance the future of health at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2013 Annual Conference and Exposition.
HIMSS will be held March 3-7 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Northrop Grumman's demonstrations in booth #1827 will include the company's programs in advanced health and science, health data integration and analytics, benefit systems and population health.
"At Northrop Grumman, we know that producing, analyzing and using better information increases the efficiency and effectiveness of health care and can improve the overall health of the population. As we have for more than 25 years, we will continue to integrate key enabling technologies and innovative approaches to provide our customers with the advanced information solutions that will reduce costs, improve care and ensure better health outcomes," said Amy Caro, vice president of health IT programs for Northrop Grumman.
Cloud
At HIMSS, the company will showcase its MApps2Cloud solution, a methodology for securely and affordably migrating mission applications to the cloud. This Web-based toolkit helps organizations assess their application portfolio and develop a cloud migration plan. MApps2Cloud then offers a phased approach, outlining every step necessary to pilot, migrate, operate and manage applications in the cloud.
Northrop Grumman will also feature solutions to help states meet imminent deadlines under the Affordable Care Act: MAGI in a Box, an electronic turnkey infrastructure for applying the Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) method to determine eligibility under the law's Medicaid expansion, and Smart Navigator to provide the mandated public outreach, education and enrollment assistance for the new health exchange programs. States must submit their MAGI conversion plans by April 30 and their Navigator blueprints by March 29.
Analytics
Northrop Grumman analytics presentations on the show floor include demonstrations of the Integrated Health Analytics Platform (iHAP) and fraud analytics. iHAP links and combines data from multiple sources – including clinical, claims, public health, demographic and environmental – allowing health leaders to view multiple integrated data sets to make more informed and cost-effective decisions. The fraud analytics demonstration features predictive modeling capabilities that allow identification of high-risk claims before payment, significantly reducing fraud, waste, abuse and other improper payments.
In e-Session 408 – "A Multi-tier Healthcare Fraud Analytics and Detection Solution" – Northrop Grumman's Jay V. Schindler, Ph.D., MPH, discusses some of the needs, components, analytics, data visualization approaches and benefits of a generic fraud analytics workstation. HIMSS e-Sessions are offered at kiosks on the first floor of Lobby G and outside Room 260 on the second floor March 4-7 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Northrop Grumman will also present how the company's expertise in public health, analytics and data integration improves the accuracy and timeliness of detection and response to foodborne threats. By strengthening food-related surveillance systems and integrating important data used by federal and state agencies, Northrop Grumman systems and solutions help battle foodborne diseases that affect millions of Americans every year.
Mobile
Northrop Grumman will demonstrate solutions including its innovative GOmobile clinician tablet, a custom application that simplifies and streamlines the documentation of electronic records for clinicians. The application provides an intuitive interface that allows clinicians to record, view and analyze a patient's health information and enter updates in real time from either their personal computer or tablet. Although designed for military health clinicians, the application can be customized to interact with any electronic health record.
Northrop Grumman will also feature its Showcase mobile application. Designed as a portfolio, Showcase provides easy access to various information sources – including data sheets and websites – allowing the user to demonstrate capabilities, solutions and scenarios dynamically.
