RUSSELL COUNTY, Va., Oct. 27, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will further demonstrate its commitment to the commonwealth today with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new information technology (IT) facility in Russell County, Va.
As part of the landmark public-private IT infrastructure partnership, the Northrop Grumman Southwest Enterprise Solutions Center will house both the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and Northrop Grumman internal IT operations. Approximately 400 Northrop Grumman employees will be located in the Center.
The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. EDT at the Russell Regional Business Technology Park in Lebanon, Va.
Highlighting the occasion will be remarks from Governor Tim Kaine; U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher; and James O'Neill, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's IT sector.
"This new facility is part of our overall plan to make Virginia Northrop Grumman's East Coast technology hub," said O'Neill. "We intend to grow our business in this region, particularly as we pursue other IT managed services business."
The Northrop Grumman Southwest Enterprise Solutions Center will have approximately 101,000 square feet. This facility will house Northrop Grumman employees, providing core IT services such as enterprise security, network operations management, data backup and recovery, and help desk services. This range of services will provide local hiring opportunities. The company currently plans to fill approximately 400 open positions to be based at the new facility.
Construction of the building is scheduled for completion in late fall of 2007. Northrop Grumman will serve as the anchor tenant of the Russell Regional Business Technology Park.
