NEWPORT NEWS, Va., July 19, 2010 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a fixed-price subcontract by Shaw Areva Mox Services, LLC for work to be performed at the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility (MOX), located at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, S.C.

Newport News Industrial (NNI), a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman's Shipbuilding sector, located in Newport News, Va., is the prime contractor for the work, valued at approximately $1.8 million.

"This award allows NNI to prove its capability to produce quality products and ensure we receive more contracts of this nature in the future."

This 42-week project will include the design and fabrication of equipment to improve the distribution of chemicals within specialized process equipment at the MOX.

Shaw Areva Mox Services, LLC is the prime contractor for the design, construction and startup of the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility at SRS. SRS is a DOE industrial complex responsible for the environmental management and cleanup of nuclear materials in support of the U.S. nuclear non-proliferation efforts.
