MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Gartner Inc. has listed Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) in the "Leaders" quadrant of an influential market report that analyzes a company's qualities, completeness of vision and ability to execute on that vision.
According to Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing 2005, Gartner distinguishes data-center outsourcing services as one of the most mature information-technology service categories.
"We're pleased to be acknowledged in the magic quadrant report," said Hugh Taylor, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Commercial, State and Local Solutions business, and lead executive for managed services. "We believe Gartner's analysis further confirms our commitment to provide efficient, results-oriented data-center services."
Gartner defines "Leaders" as companies that perform well, demonstrate a clear vision of market direction, and actively build competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
Service providers are positioned in Gartner's Magic Quadrant based on formal presentations by participating vendors, client reference checks, and analyst knowledge of the market. The Gartner report, The Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing 2005, was authored by Richard Matlus and William Maurer and covers external service providers in North America. To qualify for the report, at least $50 million in annual data-center outsourcing revenue was required and 10 North American client references.
In addition to the data-center outsourcing Magic Quadrant, Gartner also lists Northrop Grumman in the "Leaders" quadrant in additional markets: the North America help desk outsourcing, 2004 and North America desktop outsourcing, 2004 Magic Quadrant reports, both published on December 1, 2004.
