SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - August 9, 2005 -- Northrop Grumman has advanced the U.S. Army's goal of modernizing its fleet of RQ-5A Hunter unmanned systems by conducting the first engineering flight of a new multi-mission Hunter variant designated the MQ-5B. The upgraded air vehicle, which features extended range, endurance and weapon capabilities, flew its first flight on July 8 from Libby Air Field, Ft. Huachuca, Ariz. In the photo, the MQ-5B lifts off for its 66-minute maiden test flight.
